Students Encouraged to Apply for Thomas Foundation Scholarships

Cheyenne –Students in Wyoming may apply for spring semester scholarships from the Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation now until November 1, 2013. The Foundation is dedicated to helping at risk students get post-secondary training in order to become positive, contributing members of society.

Susan Thomas, Foundation director, said, “I have great hope for these learners. I honor each and every one of them. Inspiration, opportunities, leadership....we affect lives the best way I know how. And that is to provide solid and consistent opportunities to those who want a shot at becoming the best they can be!”

Scholarships are given to Wyoming students who want to go to a Wyoming college or a vocational training program. The scholarships are $1,300 and offered one semester at a time. The Foundation monitors each student’s progress throughout the semester. According to Mrs. Thomas, she is able to personally mentor each student because it is vital to encourage, listen and provide assistance to each student as they are in uncharted territory.

The Craig and Susan Thomas Foundation focuses on Wyoming's at-risk youth population and those who champion young people. Scholarships are a key element of the Foundation. The others are grants to groups that support Foundation goals; and the Leadership Award, which is given annually to one person who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to be an advocate for at risk learners. The award includes a cash prize of $2,500 for the winner.
